Breakdown #1

Two hours into Jake Rensen race trip number 2, we found ourselves at the side of the road with a turbo breakdown. Literally the turbo broke.

No problem for chief race engineer Blake Knisely - back on the road and all systems go in less than 15 minutes.

Pow!

Awakening

Today a key turned

For months it sat quiet. Cold. Unmoving. Whispers of doubt began to circulate through racing circles across the country. Would they ever race again? Were they foolish enough to rebuild? Would the Godzilla Elves ever again find the motivation? Is Jake Rensen even real?

Today a key turned and an engine fired.

Parts forged together by the iron will of the world’s greatest race car team chief engineer. The heart of Ox. The brain of a serial killer. The muscle of a generation of post war Japanese engineers looking for a new outlet for their never-ending wealth of scientific output. Parts never intended for common use, now joined together for a purpose never imagined.

Today a key turned, an engine fired, and the voice of Jake Rensen, echoing off the vinyl siding of a once peaceful Ohio community, returned. Full of force and fury, overwhelming those who have doubted his will, his want, his very existence. His voice full of anger, anguish, and boundless power with a simple message:

I am Jake Rensen and I am coming for you.

The Car Has Instrumentation

Do you remember your first car? If you were part of the generation who got a car mid 90's chances were you had a digital dash. Chances were if you had a digital dash, you were the coolest friend with the coolest car. Chances are Jake Rensen is the coolest flannel wearing dude I know.

Motor sports starts with motor

The nuclear life blood of any Godzilla J-spec racing Type-R prelude is it's engine.

In our first attempt at racing, we melted Sir Jake Rensen's engine and transmission - Jake having recently been knighted in Monaco (story to follow). Our second attempt will not suffer the same fate.

This completely legal, within budget, unmodified, engine is being hand polished, and lovingly put back together with the hopes of not only putting the lightning back in the Lightning Burger Express, but also to withstand the cruel torment that is a Chump Car racing event.

More to come soon.

Transmission Ready for Insertion

It may look new but Jake Rensen has cleaned and replaced broken synchros to breathe new life into this 5 speed.

Yes this transmission isn't meant for a shop floor so once our elves return for the spring it'll be installed in no time.

Slow and Steady

Team Jake Rensen may not have all the right tools or all the right know-how, but we have a lot of time and matching mechanics' suits. Replacing rear wheel bearings and adhering to all chump car rules and regulations.*

The Rensen Diet

To get more awesome, we remove weight. This week's amputed limb? Power steering.
